Launch into Black History Month by reading “Sweat”, a 9-page short story by anthropologist and folklorist Zora Neale Hurston! The story follows Delia, a wash-woman in an abusive relationship with her husband Sykes. The story’s rich religious symbolism leads us to ask: Why do we allow ourselves to be mistreated by the people we love? And at what point do we draw the line?
The discussion takes place at Sharky’s Bar and Grill from 7-8:30pm ET on Wednesday, February 11. Event capped at 10 people.
