“Rebellion” and “The Grand Inquisitor” – two chapters from The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Join us on Sunday, February 15th from 3-4pm EST to discuss this excerpt from The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The chapters, titled “Rebellion” and “The Grand Inquisitor”, summarizes the philosophical question Dostoevsky grapples with throughout the book: how can a just God allow for there to be suffering? In this narrative, Ivan tells his brother Alyosha the story of Jesus Christ returning to Earth during the Spanish Inquisition, where he is arrested by the Grand Inquisitor, a cardinal of the Church. This promises to be a powerful discussion about religion as a tool for oppression and what it means for humankind to truly have free will.

Event is capped at 10 people. Discussion takes place via Google Meets.
