The Journey to the East is a novella by the German Author Herman Hesse. It follows the mysterious H.H as he attempts to tell the story of his travels with “The League”, a mysterious spiritual organization that travels through both time and space on their journey East. Beautifully written, this story leaves us reflecting on why poets’ creations live more vibrantly than the poet, what it means to live meaningfully, and how we rediscover our sense of purpose once it has been lost.
