Join me virtually on Monday, May 18th at 7pm EST to discuss the short story “The 9 Billion Names of God,” by Arthur Clark. In the story, a monastery requests the use of a supercomputer to help them in their mission to calculate all the possible 9-letter combinations that could create the name of God. To the alarm of technicians assigned to the project, the monks claim that when the supercomputer has finished its calculations, God’s purpose will have been achieved.
