SUMMARY:Talking About Technology: Story-Driven Dialogue for ages 10-13
DESCRIPTION:How does technology change our human experience? In the digital
age\, how do we define our humanity and our values? \n\nIn this four-day
literature course\, students explore how technology shapes human connecti
on\, creativity\, and emotion through three classic short stories: “The
Veldt” by Ray Bradbury\, “The Fun They Had” by Isaac Asimov\, and
“EPICAC” by Kurt Vonnegut. Each day’s 1‑hour session invites stude
nts to read closely\, discuss deeply\, and write thoughtfully using two co
re tools: a 6‑question reading framework (analyzing the narrator\, chara
 cterization\, setting\, plot\, message\, and theme) and 4 writing moves (s
 ummary\, claim\, evidence\, analysis).\n\nBy the end of the week\, student
s will:\n\n Analyze how authors imagine technology’s impact on family\,
learning\, and love\n Strengthen their ability to support claims with te
xtual evidence\n Participate in a Socratic seminar exploring the connecti
ons between texts and ideas\n Draft and refine a short essay with guided
 feedback\n
